Cherne has been developing products for waterworks and plumbing professionals for over 60 years. It all started in 1953 when they created an innovative inflatable device for stack testing. After that, Cherne expanded their product offering to include testing, maintenance and repair equipment for residential, commercial and municipal systems. Cherne was acquired by Oatey in 1990 but has maintain edits focus on system testing, maintenance and repair.

Cherne’s state-of-the-art pipe plug manufacturing,distribution and testing facility in Minnesota opened in 2021. It features advanced robotics and automation technology. All of their pneumatic and mechanical test plugs are made of 100% natural rubber and as a result they conform to pipe surfaces better, have greater tensile strength and a longer working life. No chemical fillers or resins are used.
